The correct venue is vital for any wedding
Don’t be afraid to ask question but do try to be firm yet flexible.
Try to number your priorities from 1 to 10 and take the list with you. Remember to consider your guests especially if you are having children or elderly. Always visit more than once as venues can seem different at different times of the day.
What are the maximum numbers that can be accommodated for both the wedding breakfast and/or wedding buffet?
Will the venue be exclusive to you and your party?
Do they have a microphone available for the speeches?
Make sure that florists etc will have access to the room and from what time either on the big day or night before if you are decorating it yourself.
Check for photo opportunities both in and outside the venue.
Can they accommodate a marquee and would a ground rent then be payable?
Be clear about what is included in the price. Can you take your own wine and will you be charged corkage?
Licences for music and drinks need to be checked and what time they are available until.
Check that there are no policies against dancing, confetti decorations etc.
Car parking for guests, is it free?
Is there a honeymoon suite and is it complimentary? A lot of places also offer discounted rates to your guests. Also do they have a baby listening service/crèche?
If you are staying (else where) ask if you can have a day room for when you and your beloved need five minutes to catch your breath!
Storage of presents etc is paramount. Any one break dancing could flip too hard and smash aunt Edna’s vase so ask for a secure place to put them.
Anything that you are planning to have outside make sure you also have a back up plan in case it’s thunder and lightening!
Ask if there will be a designated person to help with all your enquiries and the plans leading up to the big day.
Always ask for everything in writing. You might be grateful of it. Mistakes can happen.
